About Us

FCWatersports was established in 1984 in Poole, Dorset. The present owner took over FCWatersports in 1987 and moved the location to Sandbanks, selling windsurfing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding, stand up paddle-boarding equipment and surf clothing. With over 25 years experience, FCWatersports continuously worked to raise the profile of the sports, constantly trying to introduce a new and wider audience to the thrill of being out on the water. This fantastic lifestyle has always been the core behind the business. In 2009 a dramatic transition in the business is set to revolutionize how the industry retails to its customers. It’s all about keeping the ‘core’ and adapting it to a lifestyle which is right for ‘now’. The Sandbanks store remains within the family ownership of the original business which has traded profitably and continues to do so in 2009 despite the economic downturn (Sandbanks is its own micro climate at the end of the day!).

What’s changed then?

The mindset and a bit of shop reconfiguration! The clothing moves to the ground floor; more visible, more approachable, more accessible, more welcoming. The hardware hits the road, like any good ‘lifestyler’ should. It comes to you, where you are, when it suits you, and it has fun, playing in the water, with you, without any formal shop counter desks...till points…opening times...restrictions.

How does it work on the road?

Back in the 70’s the old school surf shops in California would close their doors when the surf was good…creating the classic term, “gone surfing”. We at FCWatersports has over 20 JP boards and over 30 Neilpryde rigs in its demo fleet and we’re proud of them. We feel it is important to be on the beach when it is windy, not standing behind a counter…a barrier. We want to talk to you, let you try some kit, find out what you think of it, sell you stuff - if and when you want to. To compliment this new way of working our new website showcases all new products, ex demo, secondhand and special offers. Emails will be checked regularly not just 9 to 5 and when we are working on the website in the evenings after a good day on the water, we will be live on Skype.

FCWatersports invites you all to become part of the core lifestyle, to remember why you got into the sports in the first place, wanted to first play in the water.
